Indicative Technical
and Economic Parameters
of a HEST Energy
Storage Facility
The HEST technical
solutions are used for designing and constructing stationary large capacity
energy storage facilities of 100 MWh and more (hereinafter HEST energy storage
facilities of simply HEST). HEST has a number of advantages compared with
alternative stationary energy storage systems:
·
Full compliance with customer technical
operational requirements for energy storage and grid connectivity
·
Low amortization cost of under 1,5% of total
cost annually with a 4:1 and higher ratio of storage capacity to determined
power
·
Long service life of over 80 years without
deterioration of performance parameters
·
Performance efficiency ratio of 70 to 74%
throughout entire service life
·
Possibility to create vast energy reserves at a
very reasonable cost: the energy is stored with no time limits or losses
·
Quick response time to power fluctuations of
under 200 milliseconds
·
Fully automated operation remotely controlled by
an operator, hence no need for full-time service staff
·
High reliability due to use of fail-safe
technical solutions and backup systems
·
High serviceability: maintenance and repairs are
performed on selected units only with uninterrupted facility operation; low
costs and unification of spare parts allow for maintaining sufficient stock on
site for quick replacements
· No climatic limitations for facility
construction
· Easy-to-find suitable construction sites as
there are no environmental or technogenic risks
· Technical and economic parameters allow for HEST
utilization to balance peak and near-peak demand, and to maintain power
reserves
·
HEST can be reasonably used with decentralized
clean energy grids
